This kind of beautiful thing called flower may not be strange for us. But, do you know that from 422,000 flowering plants in the world, there are some flowers that are so rare and becoming endangered or even extinct? And there are also some flowers which just can be seen in a specific time, or they are flowering seasonally, which is sadly, you probably won’t see them in every place. That’s why it’s very important to discover those flowers in the world to keep their existence. And here are the lists of them:
1) Kadupul Flower
Kadupul flower blooms only after midnight and withers away before dawn. And because of that, this flower becomes one of the world’s expensive flower. In fact, it’s priceless and there’s no one who has one long enough to sell it. The flower has a very strong fragrant.
2) Jade Vine Flower
The unusual sea green petals and navy-purple buds of the green jade flower are the most eye-catching. This curve flower which is unusually durable in texture and droop from a vine, are pollinated by bats. They hang from the vines to collect the nectar of the flower. Due to the deforestation, jade vine has become endangered flower and extremely precious. This species can be found in the tropical rain forest of the Philippines and is a member of the bean family.
3) The Corpse Flower
This flower is also known as the strangest flower and only can be found in Sumatra, Western Indonesia. In Indonesia, the flower is also known as “Bunga Bangkai”. It can reach up to 3 meters in height and produces an unpleasant smell. There’s combination with a deep red color at its core. This flower can attract carrion insects in order to be used for pollination.
4) Calceolaria (Yellow-Purple Lady Slippers)
Calceolaria are also known as “yellow and purple lady slippers” and cannot live in random places. We can find the flower in regions of Central and South America, ranging from Mexico to Chile. Calceolaria are grown as pot plants, but can be grown as an outdoor pot or bedding plant in cooler climates, such as the Pacific Northwest portion of the United States. The flowers’ shaped are yellow-orange or red pouch. It forms a low, ground-hugging rosette of hairy leaves with wiry stems rising above in late spring, that sometimes each bearing a pair of inflated golden-yellow pouch flower marked with the tiny red spots.
5) Ghost Orchid
It’s a kind of flower that is hard to find, due to the fact that it doesn’t have any leaves. This species is also a fussy plant, which only grows under certain conditions and also known as one of the most widely rare flowers. The orchid ghost consists of soft white petals that hang loosely away from the stem. It blooms fully in late June and August. We also can find this flower in a swampy forest of Florida and Cuba.
6) Parrot’s Beak
The parrot’s beak is one of the most beautiful flower in the world, but it’s also one of the rarest. The appearance resembles a lobster claw, the flower can also grow up to 6 inches in length and 3 feet in width. They consist of soft petals with orange, yellow and red colors that brighten up in full sunshine. This flower are native to the Canary Islands and have been in decline since 1884.
7) Cyclamen Persicum
The cyclamen persicium which grow wild in South Western Turkey is among the most beautiful winter-flowering plants. The blooms are very odd in form and exceedingly beautiful in coloring. The colors range through bright shades, pink, crimson, and pure white. The crowns are frequently spotted with rich splashing color. This flower also contains a dark-brown tuberous root which is semi-poisonous. The tubers can be used in making soap because when they are mixed with water, they generate a lather.
8) Black Bat Flower
This rare specimen can be still found in South East Asia countries. The colors of the flower are black, the black petals resemble a black bat. The flower also consists of long cat-like whiskers, growing up to nearly 28 inches in length. We can find them in tropical regions of South East Asia including Malaysia, Thailand, and China.
9) Youtan Poluo
This flower can only be found in extremely rare times, which only bloom once in 3000 years. It’s also no bigger than 1 mm with sweet-scented minuscule. In the present, maybe we still can see them in China, Korea, Taiwan, and US (not exactly). Just for your information, historically, this flower was first discovered in China by a Chinese farmer, known by the name Mr. Ding.
