1. Hohenzollern Palace
Our first location is in Germany. The name of the first Palace on the list is Hohenzollern Palace. This grand building is actually a huge fortress designed for defense at war. This grand fortress is standing tall for 855 meter and it was built above the Mount Hohenzollern. This grand fortress is located around 45 kilometers in the south part of Stuttgart, the state capital city of Baden-Wurttemberg. Hohenzollern Palace is the home for Hohenzollern family in the past. This fortress was being functioned as the center of Germany Kingdom. In 1423, Hohenzollern Palace was completely destroyed by the 10 month consecutive attack from the Swabia. Hohenzollern Palace was rebuilt as a castle in 1454 and finished in 1461. This castle was functioned as the shelter for Catholic refugees during the war with Swabia. Unfortunately, this majestic castle was losing its function in the end of 18th century and several parts of this castle must be demolished. The grand chapels were the only remaining of Hohenzollern Palace. Luckily, in 1846, this castle was rebuilt for the third time by Frederick William IV from Prussia. Hohenzollern Palace is one of the oldest castles in European continent. Nowaday, Hohenzollern Palace was being functioned as the tourism object for domestic and foreign tourists.
2. Howard Castle
Our next destination is located England. England is well known the place for majestic castles in the world. The name of the castle on the picture is Howard Castle. This charming castle was located in the north part of York, England. This castle has been the residence for Howard family for 300 years. Howard Castle is one of the biggest castles in England. The first ground breaking of Howard Castle was 1699 and this grand building need 15 years to built. And now, Howard Castle has been categorized into the group of historical buildings in England under the England government.
3. The Castle of Segovia
If you looked at this charming castle, you must be felt familiar with the design. Yes, Walt Disney was inspired by this castle. You must be familiar with the tower of this castle since it’s typically found in many Walt Disney’s cartoons, children books, and animations. The castle of Segovia is actually a fortress from the Arabian attack in the early 12th century where the most of the castles was built by the Arabians. According from the historical record, this castle was start to built in 1120, 32 years after the fall of Spain in the hands of Christian armies, Another fact was discovered that the castle of Segovia was used by the Roman tribes before it was taken by the Arabians. According from the history, the castle of Segovia was built by King Alfonso VII and his wife. Most of the interior parts were heavily damaged because of fire in 1862. But the remains of the interior still can be seen inside this castle. If you ever go to Spain, you got to visit this castle.
4. Himeji Castle
Our next destination is Himeji Castle. Himeji castle is located in the city of Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. According to the ancient provinces division, this castle is located in Harima-no-kuni, Shikito-gun and Himeji. The enchanted white color is dominating this castle walls and that is why this castle was called “The White Crane Castle”. This castle was so astonishing when it looked from a far distances and this castle is often being used for filming a movie related with the history of Japan. The Himeji Castle is one of the most important examples of the Japanese castle architecture in the early 17th century. In 1993, Himeji Castle was categorized as The World Heritages Site by UNESCO.
5. Dolmabahce Palace
Alright, our next destination is located in Turkey. Dolmabahce Palace is located on the side of Bosporus, Europe. Dolmabahce Palce is the center of administration from the Ottoman Empire. This palace is divided in three parts, Mabeyn-I Humayun (only for men), Muayede Salonu (ceremonial aula) and Harem-i-Humayun (the Sultan family’s apartment). The Dolmabahce Palace has 45.000 meter per square and it has 285 rooms, 6 bathing places and 68 toilets.
6. Potala Palace
Potala Palace is our next charming castle. Potala Palace is located in Lhasa, Tibet. Potala Palace is a winter castle of Dalai Lama since the 7th century. Potala Palace is the symbol of Tibetan Buddhism which is the center of traditional administration in Tibet. The Palace complex are consists of White and Red Palace with the extended buildings. Potala Palace was built on 3.700 meters of Red Mountain in the center of Lhasa Valley.
7. Summer Palace
Our next charming castle is Summer Palace. Summer Palace is located in China. This building is the biggest preserved imperial garden in China. Just like the name, this Palace is used for the ancient emporium leaders of China during summer time. Summer Palace is also called as YiHe Yuan which means “The Garden of Harmony” or “Garden of Healthiness and Harmony”.
8. Winter Palace
Winter Palace is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Winter Palace is the official residence of Tsar Russia. This palace was designed by many architects and one of them is Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The Winter Palace is known as Baroque Elizabeth style palace.
